Re: Fusion keybed balance issue revisited-last time!

Yeah my idea is that the Pi will interpret the 'sysex' commands, grab control of the Fusion by USB, write whatever changes are necessary onto the Fusion's hard drive, then release the USB.

It wouldn't be able to do everything we can normally do (with other synths) by sysex, but it would at least ...

Re: Fusion keybed balance issue revisited-last time!

To implement that list of functionality, the Fusion would need to be connected to the Pi with:
- Pi USB to Fusion USB
- Pi USB to Fusion Midi In and Out
- Pi USB audio adapter to Fusion Audio In Left & Right

Avoid song mode ?

I noticed that if I *never* switch to song mode, my Fusion CPU usage stays much lower. Whenever I enter song mode, the CPU usage goes up and it doesn't come down again after switching to a different mode.

I used to use song mode for everything but now I avoid it and use mix mode instead.

Re: Fusion keybed balance issue revisited-last time!

Ah well I do feel that my 6HD (a very early one) has a balance problem between white and black keys.

My two 8HDs are both newer and they both seem fine.

My wife's acoustic piano has a fabulous silent-piano added to it, which has velocity balance control between black and white keys, and also the ...

Re: Fusion keybed balance issue revisited-last time!

Did you find a way to identify (ideally from the outside) which keyboards have the problem ?

I remember being a bit annoyed with it years ago but I must have got used to it, as my old 6HD feels ok to me now.

Re: Fusion keybed balance issue revisited-last time!

You could get a raspberry pi, a cheap usb midi cable, and install the very cool mididings (open source) on it. Turn off local control on the Fusion, and let mididings modify the midi stream in real time.

Mididings is really flexible and has a balance control between black and white keys.

Re: Memory diagnostics Fusion 8HD - HW failure or FW bug?

Your your problem intermittent, or is it constant ?

I have solved similar intermittent error messages at startup, by flashing an older version of the full ROM then flashing back to the latest version 1.24 (again, the complete ROM, not just the OS).

Re: CF to SD with WiFi . . . .

I don't think this will work well, unfortunately. The fusion does not expect something else to be making modifications to the filesystem while it has write access itself.

Only after you do a USB unplug does the Fusion expect that something might have changed on the media.

Re: rotary fast/slow switch with knobs or s1 s2

At least with the T1-4 buttons I don't think you can do it. I never managed to get those 4 to do anything useful, other than send a midi message on press (and on release i think).

If I understand you right, though, what you want to do should be possible with the S1 or S2, or indeed with the knobs ...

Re: saving on CF Card

I would be very interested to see your timings.

I have a suspicion there is some trickery going on in the firmware, and that the speeds we see over USB are not necessarily related to the speeds at which the Fusion accesses the hard drive for samples and especially for recorded audio.

I would love ...

Ok well .... it works on all operating systems that support USB Mass Storage, which is pretty standard. Didn't mean to offend you - sorry about that.

Re: Hidden sounds beyond P8?

And Hadley. I did not think the fusion's USB port could be connected successfully with Android or Linux. Have you connected your Fusion to Linux without a specific driver for it (I know android devices must be "OTG" capable, I have few )? This might offer a new possibility since Linux development ...

Re: Hidden sounds beyond P8?

. I have never heard of anyone connecting the Fusion to a Linux or Mac-based machine with the only connection it has-the USB port. I can guess its do-able, but I don't think anyone has ever bothered to develop a Linux USB driver for the Fusion or if the MAC needs one or not.

There is no special ...

Good advice but I have so many Fusion hard drive backups over the last couple of decades... I really need to write that librarian so I can figure out how to re-merge them all.

Re: Hidden sounds beyond P8?

Hadley-what editor/librarian are using for editing the Fusion sounds on your computer?

I have only done tiny edits to sounds, using either a hex editor or alliance hd. There was one parameter I needed to set to a value higher than what was permitted in the Fusion UI.

For 'librarian' i do it ...
