Yep, it was a short red and black wire(s) that was NOT present on the PSU that I pulled.
I believe red/black was +5 volts and Gnd.
A similar red/black connector DID connect to the fan next to the hard drive

I am not sure (exactly) if the PSU I bought was for the HD6 or MPC5000, but it works ...

I tried to "component" fix my supply..no luck...even ha a DC-DC expert look at it that designs supplies for electric vehicles. As Jesse stated, this was an OEM supply that Alesis purchased and did not design themselves, hence there are no schematics to be found.

It is pretty difficult if not ...

Thanks for the all the help..the Fusion is back up and running..it was the power supply...Got a new one from "instrumentalparts".

Quite a pain as the one connector (to the main middle board) is incredibly tight (location wise).

Also, the "new" power supply has an unused two ...

thanks for the help guys..it is the power supply...I am seeing not more than 1.28 volts on any of the outputs...

So here is the fifty dollar question for someone who really knows switching power suppllies...what potential component failure would cause this condition as I may try to get it fixed ...

Ok, I took the screws off and opened the unit (my brother is an EE so I am feeling pretty proud of myself).

I will check tonight for bad connections or something obvious near the power supply (right hand side). I have a voltmeter and will look carefully (without shorting anything out) to ...

I checked the obvious..cord, outlet, etc.

Have you heard of the power supplies failing..I use the fusion mainly for studio work but recently carried it cross country (something shaken loose??)

I assume if "just" a board was dead the thing would still power up or something??

This girl ...

I have a fusion that I recently turned on..it operated for about 15 seconds and then dead...nothing.

No smell or smoke...but I suspect the power supply as nothing is doing anything.

Any suggestions???
