Aux in music not working

Hi, I just picked up a Nitro mesh unit used and I was looking forward to playing along with my favorite tunes. However, when I try to play music through the Aux in, part of the music is dropped out. usually it's the vocals and drum parts. Mainly the guitar comes through. I've tried Iphone, android, and an old ipod. Same results. tried 2 different cables with the same result.

It's like there is a filter or setting that is limiting the input, but idk how to adjust it.

Anyone have any thoughts on this? has anyone experienced this?

researching this a bit more and it appears that the issue might be with my headphones. I'm trying different types and I get mixed results. I'm able to get all of the music coming in, but now only muted drums. I'll keep trying different things
