My Fusion MIDI Out is out of control.... :S

Post by paugui »

I was playing today with my Fusion, connecting its MIDI Out to the MIDI In of my Roland D-550 and after some notes it started to trigger my Roland in a completely crazy way, sustaining some notes and randomly playing others, playing something totally different from what I was playing.
I turned my speakers on so I could hear what was being played on the Fusion and he was responding correctly to the notes I was triggering on its keyboard.

Does anyone know how can this problem be solved?
My Fusion has still some time of warranty left, so if no solution can be seen I will try to send it back to the store to be repaired, but if this is a simple problem that can be worked out easily it would be great...

Thanks in advance,
Best regards

Paugui

This is a bug. It is because of a malfunction with receiving and transmitting MIDI Clock.

-Go to GLOBAL
-Select MIDI
-UNTICK Transmit MIDI Clock (it should be off)

If it still doesn't work then also UNTICK Receive MIDI Clock (also off)

Goodluck!!

Thanks for the reply.

I will do that when I get back home, where I have my Fusion.

Hopefully the solution above will stop the problem but there is a seperate problem which can also cause this.

Basically the Fusion internals (especially in the smaller case of the 6hd) overheat and after 30 - 120 minutes of use cause the midi out to spurt out a load of random messages.

Check out this thread.

Yes sorry I was not implying the midi out problems from overheating happens on very Fusion.

It happens regularly on 4 or 5 owners on this forum, so a very low proportion.

More a problem on 6hd's due to the smaller more confined case, also more common with heavy use of the sequencer and obviously with higher ambient room tempratures.

But overheating is definitely the cause of midi out issues on some.

how can your fusion be on for 6 or 7 years neomad? It didn't exist before 2005.

I've been having some other issues now with midi, in mix mode, using the standard midi template and midi-in to midi-out of rm1x and vice versa. Local control off, rm1x set to monitor midi signals.
If I go to EDIT mode where sounds can be assigned, and change the tracks 1-8 to 2-9 etc. the fusion starts stuttering.

mstsfreak, to uncheck the receive midi clock would basically mean that the fusion's arps wouldn't be synced anymore to the midi clock, am I right?

AARGH I hate it. And I love it :(

also, turning the K1-4 knobs in the assign mode makes the fusion screen go cuckoo.

I tested it for an afternoon with the change mstsfreak suggested and it seems to be working well.

I have the Fusion 8HD, so I hope I don't start having those overheating problems...

Thanks a lot for all your replies,
