Re: Anybody have a dead Fusion clock battery yet?

I just did a similar post in another thread...i was told by an acquaintance in Santa Monica that used to repair Alesis equipment that a dead Lithium cell could in fact affect the boot up of a Fusion.

Had this person actually worked on a Fusion with a dead battery or was this just a theory? I don ...

Re: Anybody have a dead Fusion clock battery yet?

Yes, the battery is soldered onto the main board so you have to remove the expansion board to get to it.

Synth designers who use a soldered-in battery design... a pox be upon you!

Who knows how many nice synths have taken the dirt nap because of a stupid little dead battery.

You'll have ...

Re: Anybody have a dead Fusion clock battery yet?

Here's further info on the I2C serial RTC (real time clock) chip used in the Fusion. It's located very close to the battery and the crystal oscillator necessary for it's time reference.

The clock continues to operate down to about 2V so it's no wonder these lithium cells have lasted so long.

It ...

Re: Fusion midi clock with audio files

I know this post is old but it's worth adding context.

The Fusion handles MIDI CLOCK sync well when it's receiving external MIDI CLOCK. I know of no issues with clock RX.

It handles being the MIDI clock master seemingly as well UNTIL the volume of MIDI data exercises a logic bug in the Fusion ...

Re: Anybody have a dead Fusion clock battery yet?

I assume that's what will happen when a battery actually dies. The RTC chip may have a power-loss flag of some sort and the Fusion will detect that on boot and just force you to reset the date/time which is only needed for the disk file system anyhow.

What's with your display color? Is that just ...

Anybody have a dead Fusion clock battery yet?

Hey all,

It's been a good bit since I posted. I was fiddling with my Fusions today and they are working great. Still, the nagging specter of limited RTC battery life remains.

Has anybody experienced a dead RTC battery? I'm wondering what happens.

The graceful way for the system to handle it would ...

Re: Alesis Fusion 6SD (SD card as a HDD)

Another thing you can try is to load the SD card on a Linux box like Ubuntu. This will allow you to deal directly with the partitions on the SD card. Delete the single partition and then try it on the Fusion. The Fusion should see the drive as unpartitioned empty space and apply it;s own ...

Flanger as COMB filter

Turns out the flangers on the Fusion work just fine as Comb filters. Flangers are basically very short modulated delays. Flangers that allow high feedback and zero modulation depth basically have Comb filter modes.

To try comb filtering effects on the Fusion...

- Setup a flanger effect on an ...

Re: from pc to my 6hd transfer

Old topic, but I can verify that the Fusion does not allow sample import to audio tracks from the CF card, only the HD.

That would have been convenient. Oh well, not a big deal though.

Re: 4-Bits Mix - T1, T2 Mystery Controls

I'm old enough to be familiar with that comedy routine. :D

I gotcha, I have read and absorbed those instructions fairly well and adjusted all these parameters in the Mix and Song.

The mystery is that the 4-Bits Mix does not assign T1 or T2 anywhere in those mod slots! All three Arps use T3, and ...

The 4-Bits Mix is in the ROM at Mix A-4.

I can post the converted song as well.

4-Bits Mix - T1, T2 Mystery Controls

As I noted in another post, I recently used the Fusion's Utility functions to convert the "4-Bits Mix" to a song, as a learning exercise to see how that rather complex mix is constructed.

The first discovery was that the Utility conversion function doesn't completely work. It does transfer much of ...

Just was notified InMusic is sending the 2nd "new" mainboard out tomorrow.

Still no acknowledgment of the Ser/.No. registering Issue? Or have they done it for you on the "New Board"?

Can you actually step-through the Nag-screen and use the Fusion normally from then on?

Chris

Re: Fatar keybeds-there are 4 versions!

Engineers are far from perfect, but once they have a working design they tend to know they have a good one and stick with it. Stuff like this is very often the result of subsequent "cost reduction" programs for existing products. Thus the reason an early version might be great and then suddenly the ...
