Upgrading Fusion OS 2008

Post by MarcS »

Hi everybody,
Just purchased the Fusion yesterday and noticed that upgrading OS was necesarry: OS version 1.02 in stead of 1.24. Now the Alesis site (alesis.com) contains an OS image of 58Mb, binary. I've read a lot of threads about activating this thing, but it almost got my fusion killed. Had to format the HD to prevent Voice CPU 1 from going bezerk. This is how I finally managed: copied the .bin (no rename!!) onto a CF card of 128megs, preformatted on the Alesis, inserted the card with Alesis powered off, then turned it on holding keys B and 7. At that point the user interface mentions updating the complete ROM in stead of the OS only. This worked!!! All attempts from within the Global menu (System-->Load) either with files on CF or HD root did not work. Conclusion: the german Alesis.de comes closest to describing this procedure correctly and after a few sweaty hours I am now a happy, up-to-date Alesian!!!

EDIT: never mind - I got it.

A few things about the German Alesis site. They only list the Micron as a current synth. The Fusion is in the archive section along with the Ion, A6, and QS series. When you click on most things on that site, it takes you to the US site and returns an error message. Also, I can't see a way to get an English version of the german site. :(

I have tried and tried but all I get when loading the OS 1.24.bin file to a 4gig CF card and plugging into the Fusion is a firmware Error code 0X01000008, cannot find valid firmware!!

Please help SOS or something.

What am I doing wrong? I have tried the example above and it still will not update.

reformat the card on the fusion.
card is probably too big and might be fat32 instead of plain fat
