Finally, the Fusion at Home

Post by Dana »

It took a while for the jobs to slow down, but here's some of my toys at home. Although I've been using just the 8HD & the 2500 live, I'm thinking of carting the rack with the O1R/W, Wavestation A/D & Voiceworks (some favorite sounds are in those beasties). For a list of gear, see my website... or try to guess! -Sorry about the quality, these were taken with my digital "voice recorder". Since this is all about keyboards, the other stuff (Recording gear, P.A. & lighting, etc.) in the other room is not pctured. I have plenty of audio to post, but I'm still analog & haven't found an inexpensive/quality sounding way to put them in my computer. I tried the suggestion on the demo page, but it made it sound like an 8-bit sample.

Hello xmcgx!
Thanks! The racks actually are quite stable. They are on a heavy duty dbl braced stand (with a mixer shelf/platform). I've had them stacked 5 high with hardly a wobble.
The mixer(s) are out of frame (submixers are pictured). The ones that are pictured are: <top rack> Behringer RX1602 Eurorack Pro, <bottom rack> trusty, dusty Kawai MX-8SR, <pic 4> Rolls MX28 3 ch. stereo mixer. I run the EPS-16+ thru the ASR88's inputs, then the ASR, K2500, Fusion into the Rolls. The other mixers are a Mackie 1402VLZ (in a SKB GigRig with PA amps & f/x, etc.) and a Behringer MX1604A (used live w/ Fusion & K2500). You can also see in Pic 4: Samson DB500a #1 (w/Kawai K1m on top) next to the Rolls. Pic 1 shows my beloved (why did they stop making these?!) Yamaha MS400 w/Yamaha RX-7 on top behind the Martin and DB500a #2 to the right of that. -I still use a Yamaha MS202mkII on stage mounted to a mic stand as my kybd monitor. I'm hoping to obtain a pair of Shure PSM200's (w/E5 earpiece) soon. Ask me and I ramble on about the speakers not shown! (LOL) D 8)

Hey ReaPeR!
Outstanding! You gotta try wireless midi, bro! -Not too many being made these days, however I seem to recall stumbling over a new one by M-Audio MidAir ($150, but only 30' range. -Good for on-stage only...) or Classic MidiWorks MidiJet Pro Wireless MIDI system (~$400 w/500' range). Old/pseudo-recent units were made by Midiman (I believe Nady bought this, as it piggy-backed over audio), Gambatte, Kenton, Limex, and of course Aquila. If you can find one somewhere, grab it! You'll NEVER be the same! (that's my Aquila wireless is hanging over the AX-7) D 8)

wish i had enough money XD i've got 500 euros and i still have to buy:

hard case for my AX-7
a Line 6 Pod Xt (i had to do the heavyest hammond tone ever XD)
an expression pedal
a midi merger
a flightcase

anyway i can buy an 8mt midi cable... it's enough for small stages like the ones i'm used to

I've also been interested in an AX-7 "Keytar." Roland killed them off about a year ago, and their prices on Ebay have absolutely skyrocketed. A year ago they were $400 or so used, now they're $900-$1500 and going up!

That's the main reason I don't have one right now.

Is it a decent instrument? Good on-board sounds? I see you recommend wireless Midi, but what about wireless amping? I don't know anything about either. I don't want to be up there rocking with wires hanging off of me...
Current Synths: Roland Fantom G8; Korg Triton Extreme 88; Alesis Fusion 8HD; Yamaha Motif XS6; Roland Juno G; Roland SH-32; Roland AX-7 KEYTAR!!!!!
