Fusion total relooking

Post by strangenono »

Hi there,

I found my 6hd really ugly and not fitting my other gear at all ( dx7,sy77 and jx10) so I' m managing to paint it black and add wood panels on both ends. Could someone tell me what kind of paint I must buy and any advice before operating ?
Thx

Flat black works best with your own silkscreen lettering. Go for the natural look with the wood to offset the black.

Thx Mozape,
I think I'm going for a very dark grey to look a bit Rolandish with dark wood panels.
-As for the things written on the fusion, How could I avoid painting them since I' d like to get it white in order to contrast with the black ?
I got informed by a famous company that they would ask 275 £ to do this , too much for me ....

I once considered a plastic or fabric skin that would fit over the unit, cut just right for a perfect fit. The material I had at the time was plaid, also yellow polkadots. Korg released a x50 with a camouflage paint job.

Main Fusion gray covered with slightly crumpled tin foil. Clear fingernail polish on all rubber buttons. Black enamel paint for trim.

Add one black Kurzweil ExpressionMate gracing the 8HD synth itself, just above the keyboard...

Finally, use bright red plastic Micron-style "Alesis" endcaps, and you've got a beast.

I'd love to see how this turns out, strangenono!

A few months back I took the stock Fusion photo into Photoshop to see what a paint job might look like:

Indeed, it really looks good !
I haven't got the time to do the mod cause of my work but I will make it soon. This week end, I' m gonna buy the paint ( a very dark grey like my roland jx10) and start seeking wood panels and study which cut would fit the best my intention to make it look a bit Ob-x like...
Does anyone have instructions in order to open the fusion to paint it right and of course take the sides apart to replace them with the wood panels ?

maybe a Clavia nord red skin to match my electro 2 rack? Possibly a tie dye skin for a Grateful Dead cover band? Patch together some holograms of dinosaurs or even holdgrams of Jesus Christ on a skin loaded with an Akai pipe organ fusion converted upgrade and sold to churches. It might be too expensive to put a plasma tft screen skin on it that plays movies of slide shows. I saw a nord electro on ebay that someone had permanently coated with burlap. awww heck just slap a Roland or Yamaha logo on the back.

Black Fusion Paint Job Looks Nice, But...

Post by Vykenmax »

If you have a purchased warranty for your Fusion and you paint your Fusion black, you may be in violation of your warranty and they may not honor your warranty any longer. In the fine print of conditions of most all warranties, they most often find ways to get out of honoring your warranty.

I wouldn't want to paint my Fusion but I doubt there are many people left whose Fusions are still under warranty, given that it became a 'legacy' product over a year ago now.

The blacked up photo does indeed look rather sexy though.

If I don't like the look of something I just cover it over with duct tape.

That could make you rather unpopular with a lot of people. Especially people you don't like the look of.
