I am currently in dialog with "healingmass" on eBay-actually called "Dektronix" on the web who now has one of my Alesis Fusion mainboards for assessment and repair. i have sent them every support document I could find to help them diagnose and hopefully repair at least this one mainboard, but they are requesting a picture of the molex connector from the power supply. The problem -they are trying to troubleshoot the mainboard without the rest of the fusion-I only sent the mainboard. And since the mainboard I recall is not directly connected to the power supply, but is connected to the secondary smaller board with the memory chip (I think if my memory is correct)-I've been trying to find pictures without having to disassemble my fusion for the 9-10th time sigh....I don't think there is a clear way of showing a direct connection for power.
I did send Jesse's diagram showing voltage test points, PSU voltages for the Fusion and a few other docs and pictures that might help including the service manual with the proviso that this manual is not a public doc and may be under copyright, so as to not reproduce it which they promised would keep for their own use. I will know better on Monday what else they might need. I
am also thinking-if they can repair a mainboard, I am sure they could repair and possibly even upgrade an existing power supply if anyone needs that although looks like thanks to Tincho, we may have a very viable and affordable alternative.
This has been a ridiculously difficult challenge and I am beginning to have doubts as to whether its been worth the trouble. if I didn't think these "obsolete" Fusions were worth it, this would have been over a long time ago. If successful-like some of the truly classic and expensive old analog synths-these Fusions too might have a new life in them yet despite alesis completely dropping them.
