E3 Memory expansion now available from Sector101

Post by parametric »

Brian Allan has the first batch of 128Mb modules available for purchase an attractive price . . . . http://sector101.co.uk/exm-e3.html 8)

Two are required to fully expand a 6/8HD.

They also fit the Akai MPC5000, just ONE required for this . . . .

Brian also sent me an experimental 256Mb pair to test.

They installed OK and worked, but the Fusion only "saw" 128Mb sadly.

Bummer, I am sure with proper programming of the Fusion's hardware the extra memory would be seen an available, the same as the SATA connection :(

Upgrade your Fusion's memory
Thanks to Brian for this product with a great price :)

As a new owner of an HD8, I too have a lot of interest in this upgrade. I do have a question though. If one of you gurus would be so kind as to tell me where to check for the present memory in this beast?

Thanks a bunch,

Ian

Hi Ian and welcome to the Forums . . . .

Check this link: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=6636&p=35343&hilit= ... tic#p35343

You need to HOLD DOWN BOTH 1 and 8 and power-on the 8HD . . . To enter the Diagnostics mode.

Don't do anything in the <Media> page (you can test (and wipe) the HDD . . . )

select Memory (on the left) and Processor (on he right)

If your Fusion is unexpanded, both Engines will say 64Mb

This explains WHY you need 2 E3s - one for EACH engine

Hope that helps . .

Thank you very much, although my complete ineptness at searching a forum has been revealed.

Seriously though, the ability to increase memory and preload samples would be a welcome addition for live gigs. I'm in, though I looked at his web site last night and he's out of stock presently.

Again, thanks for the response Parametric.

Hi Ian,

If you are gigging your Fusion - I would HIGHLY recommend an upgrade to SSD

Details here: http://www.yamahaforums.co.uk/forum/vie ... =51&t=7520
Or Here: To edit an old Fusionzone web site link so they work on the new Fusionzone website.

Replace this promusicproducts.com/forum/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?

With this viewtopic.php?f=13&t=6530&hilit=SSD

Jesse

No they do not :) .

My idea of gigging the HD8 took a set back last night. After a couple of file transfers, the USB port decided that it would prefer not functioning. I went into the diagnostics to run a test on the I/O and low and behold it worked ?!? I don't want to gum up this thread anymore than I have (I'll start separate threads with my insipid questions  ), but I believe the HD will be a studio board only. I have emailed Mr. Allan about the memory upgrade so that's still in the works. It is a remarkable instrument.

Again thanks for the kind response.

More on this thread's topic...

I emailed Mr. Allan about availability of memory upgrade. He very promptly responded with an estimate of 2 weeks for his stock to be replenished.

Seems so . . . . .

Brian indicated his initial run was for 50 "pairs" . . . . . .

So I guess the Fusion's well-deserved reputation has spread far and wide 8)

EXM-E3 128MB DRAM modules installed and working.

The E3 can be installed on the Expansion Digital Board without removing the flat cable wich connects it to the main board: just lift the expansion board slightly, slide the E3 module under it and plug it.

And removing the glued connectors is a real pita Image

Great, glad you were successful expanding your Fusion's memory :)

The support from Brian Allan at http://sector101.co.uk/exm-e3.html is yet another way we have been able to maintain and improve our Fusion work station keyboards :)

Thanks Brian :)

Just a quick shout out to Sector 101 and their memory upgrade. I have 2 new modules installed and they works great. Plus their prices were even better on their website than on ebay.
Working great and much faster!
