I had a few request for updated pictures of my home studio to show the Yamaha DTXtreme III Standard electronic drum kit I bought. I am really excited about this addition, because it gives my music the organic, real-time feel I'm looking for.
Last night, after I unpacked and setup everything I re-visited all the songs I had stored in my Fusion. I deleted all the drum sequences, and replaced them with live drums. What I learned is that I absolutely suck at drums. My timing is horrible, but it sounded fantastic in the mix. Last year, I was impressed with my music when I added live bass to it. This year, I am absolutely floored by the sound of live drums and bass.
I had to rearrange everything you see in the previous photos, so I could get my drum module close enough to the Fusion to record into it. I could only record onto a single channel due to the fact that I only had one cable that could run from the Xtreme to the Fusion.
The drum module samples, and has six separate outs for recording. Five outputs are for bass drum, snare, toms, hi-hat, and Cymbals. The sixth out can be used to output sound from the internal tone generator, or output sound from an external source. In other words I can use the module as an effects processor.
