Live at St. Louis Cardinals Game

Post by LZ »

A few pics of us playing at Busch Stadium in St. Louis last Friday. The keyboard behind the giant swatch is a Korg Triton Pro. We got rained on (heavily) as we were tearing down.

I can relate to the exposure, LZ. We played a wedding at a local resort. We were set up by the cabana by the pool. They had tents for the guests, caterers, and the band. Ours was not large enough. I firmly believe in the motto "Always Be Prepared", so when we do outdoor gigs, I always carry the following: an extra tarp or two, a 10' x 10' tent, and one of those carpet dryers (the blowers you see at the hardware, or Home Depot in the U.S.) -it makes a heck of a fan!. Unfortunately, the weddings tents were white, and mine is blue, so they wouldn't let me use it. It was sunny & hot on that gig, but that night we had a deluge! We had a gig the next day at a Harley Davidson dealer. The stage was already set up from the events the day before. The show was delayed two hours because the sound company had to remove the roof of the stage (which had been lowered) and squeegee the water off the stage. We had 40 MPH winds that day with gusts up to 60 MPH (a definitive "bad-hair day"!). The wind took out the transformer across the road with a loud bang, it was a good thing the sound company was using a huge generator! D 8)

PLEASE tell me those are cheesy wigs you're wearing and NOT your real hair!!!

And what is that wrapped around your main board? What is your main board?

Yes, they are cheesey wigs (I actually have no hair). And that is a giant Swatch watch wrapped around the lower keyboard, which is a Korg Triton Pro. Though I wouldn't really call it my main board, since the fusion does all the sequencing and I mostly play it. I use the Triton mostly for pianos and organs.

Technically, the drummer should really have the giant swatch since his stage name is Johnny Swatch. My stage name is Dan Duran, but I don't think I could really drape Simon Lebon across my keys or anything like that, so I've got the swatch. We usually drizzle the stage with Rubik's Cubes as well.
